The selection's review

The Selection (The Selection #1)

The Selection (The Selection, #1)
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself--and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
The Selection is a story about royalty and as always the main character develops a budding romance with the prince, and what a surprise there's another peasant in the story named "Aspen". The story is full of cliche. I am a bit disappointed that there weren't times when I would gasp or tense up. I was expecting more from the book. At the first few pages it was amazing, I thought that this book was worth 5 stars, but slowly my view changed.
I have to be honest that THE SELECTION is one of the best books about princess and princes. Even though the plot was something you would expect it was still a great book. America Singer is a 5 in the caste system and she's one of the chosen non-royal to be the future queen. She's a beautiful girl no doubt about it and she has such a great voice and such talent in music. This story had a bit of similarity in HUNGER GAMES. I don't think I need to put the details because I'm sure you can figure that out.
On to my review about America...she's the heroine of this story and she's stuck in a love triangle between two hot guys, one is the rich kind young prince and the second is the gorgeous sexy peasant who is a 6 in the caste system. Who will she choose? I wonder...She's an unselfish girl and she's doing this whole competition for her family.I pity that America is in such a state, her mother is quite cruel to her own daughter, the only thing she cared about is money and she thought if she let America participate she would win because of her breathtaking beauty. Her mother is a bit cocky. Keira is teaching us a lesson that we can't all brag and beg about the things we have and the things we don't. We have to open our eyes and see what is really happening in the world. The caste system is something we should not mind, we aren't superior from them, we are all equal.
Aspen is the secret lover of America. He's a bit bipolar, at first he loves her then he doesn't. It's like he's picking flower petals. I'm not sure yet if America should end up with the prince or Aspen. They both seem nice young men, but Aspen is too paranoid and the prince can get a bit sensitive and I find him weak. Aspen has a strong personality, but the prince is a bit soft don't cha think? That's in my opinion. But..yes...Prince Maxon would be suitable for America, but can he really make her happy? He doesn't understand America as Aspen does. No wonder America is having a hard time choosing. But Maxon is very swoon worthy if I  you know what I mean.

Kiera has a good way of writing, She doesn't bore her readers with many details. The details were precise, the plot is good. The characters weren't confusing, the names were very easy to remember and I very much love the reason why America is called America. If you want to find out go read her book. All in all I read with passion. I can't wait for the second book to come out!
Tell me which team you're in ;)  MAXON'S OR ASPEN'S
