Kate Winters has won immortality. But if she wants a life with Henry in the Underworld, she'll have to fight for it.Becoming immortal wasn't supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she's as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he's becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate's coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.
As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.
Henry's first wife, Persephone.
Aimee Carter gives us another thrilling story about mythology. She was able to explain Hades's behavior towards Kate. The drama between them is unforgettable, it's something that happens in real life and should be avoided. We can't all be goddesses, but Kate showed us that we can all be strong people just by showing courage and faith. She never gave up and she held her feelings back when she had to ask Persephone to help save her husband. In my opinion I don't hate Persephone, but I just don't like her attitude towards Ava and Kate, I mean I know she's beautiful and perfect, but she was envious of what she gave up, and what she gave up ended up on her sister's hand. She had no reason to have any regrets after what she did to Hades.
Having Persephone on this book was expected. I was so sure Aimee was gonna put some twist in it. Without the love triangle twist I was bound to be bored out of my mind. This story also revealed Ava's true nature and also James. I won't be showing you some spoilers, but some minor scenes that happened.
As I read into this story, I was in my own world. I felt like I was really Kate. I understood every thought she had. Her tears were my tears, her love...I really felt it, her anger...I flared up. Aimee is skilled in connecting with her readers. Kate is an amazing character I look upon to. She's sensitive, good willed, honest and hot tempered. I really love Kate, she had many quarrels with Hades, and she doubted her feelings and his feelings, but she grew to know herself more and more as she connects with her sister, Persephone. She really had a stronger bond with Hades in the second book than the first book. I had my doubts and mixed feelings, but this truly is an inspiring novel.
The ending was very shocking and heartbreaking, it made me lean onto the book as I held my breath and clenched the edges of the pages. I was furious, Aimee Carter really put me on the spot. I hate cliffhangers! I thought this story was about to have a beautiful ending, but no...
All in all I read with rapture as I turned the pages. All of Kate's adventure and romance made it all very exciting and an amazing ride that I want to ride it again and again. This just gave me the WOW and OMG. If you guys want to ever feel such a realistic romance filled with angst, romance and fantasy this book will surely give you what you want. If there are any sensitive readers out there like me I'm sure you would blubber in some scenes. The third book will come out on 2013 and I'm on the edge of my seat, desperate for more of Aimee's stories. I'm practically drooling as I hug my pillow to avoid hurting myself.
-Stay tuned
