Review: Rush by Eve Silver

So what’s the game now? This, or the life I used to know?

When Miki Jones is pulled from her life, pulled through time and space into some kind of game—her carefully controlled life spirals into chaos. In the game, she and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures. There are no practice runs, no training, and no way out. Miki has only the guidance of secretive but maddeningly attractive team leader Jackson Tate, who says the game isn’t really a game, that what Miki and her new teammates do now determines their survival, and the survival of every other person on this planet. She laughs. He doesn’t. And then the game takes a deadly and terrifying turn

My thoughts...

"I totally needed to feel the RUSH, hot and smoky." Lite-Rate-Ture reviews

Teasers:

"So glad I amuse you," I grouse.
He leans close and whispers against my ear, "Me too. There hasn't been much that makes me smile in a very long time. But you do. So thank you for that."

"You want some?"
"Sure. Thanks for offering me some of the lunch I packed." My sarcasm seems to go right over his head.

Totally loved this book. It was such a rush! The pacing was just right, the characters were all so mysterious and H-A-W-T! I'm telling you that this book will have the wind blowing on your face. I couldn't stop myself from reading. It might have been a sin to put it down. My eyes didn't grow tired as I finished this in one sitting. This fresh new dystopian action packed book gave new heights to the young adults. I so loooooved it! You will too! It was so badass and kick-ass!

What did I love?

Basically 95% of the book was written with awesome-ness. Totally not a word, but I'll take it. The hot characters were of course not optionally added to the story. Who doesn't love a good love triangle? To all those triangle haters....you will not hate this. I had my laughing moments and my awww-ing moments. The book was kinda bipolar, but that kept it energized and fast. I seriously felt the rush in this book.

Miki saves a toned deaf girl from getting hit by a truck, and then she ends up the one dying. With her physical capability she was chosen as one of the alien hunters. Cool, no? Miki kept asking questions once she got into this realm, but it wasn't annoying to read since the pacing was just right. It felt natural to learn about these hunters and aliens. The information didn't just slam into my face. It came out as a gentle kiss. LOL. The protagonist then meets our Jackson, Luka, Richelle and Tyrone. Confused for days about what Draus are and how she'll survive. Jackson is kinda on and off. She laughs while he doesn't. Jackson believes it's every man for himself, he's not the team player. He leads the team to survive. He plays for himself. Only to survive. Survive. Survive, Survive! That's his goal and motto. Once he meets Miki, his heart leads him to a new direction. Doesn't that make you swoon????

Miki doesn't get Jackson at all, he gets cold sometimes, but he watches her every move and protects her when he told her that it's every man for himself. Sneaking into her room and letting her sleep on his shoulder, what else does he want Miki to think? Miki's not sure if Jackson is just playing games with her or does he actually care?

What is the 5% I did not like?

I guess it would be how the author wasn't really clear about how the romance actually bloomed. Sure, there are kissing moments, but I wanted to know what was so attractive about Miki. During the start of the story, Miki was just your average girl who had no idea how to kick her ass out there. I loved all the characters, but one of them was a bummer. Carly...gosh! I hate this chick. She's such a brat, boy crazy kind of brat. She can't stop drooling over Jackson and Luka. She doesn't even know who she wants and she blames Miki for being a skank. She's the skank here! I guess to some of you who have read Rush must have hated that selfish brat of a best friend. Miki is too good for her. Sorry not sorry.

Do I need to explain again what a rush this book was? Sorry! I'm typing rush so many times. I can't stop it. I wrote down a few teasers above so be sure to read it and fall in love. I demand that you buy this book right now. Buy the hardbound. It's definitely worth it. *Catches my breath*

Rush is definitely an impulsive and strong story. It will enrapture its readers and have you crawling to survive. It's not a dangerous book. Please don't take it seriously. A strong character and an impossible mission, it matches so well.
