ARC Review: Romancing the Bookworm by Kate Evangelista

Sometimes, even the best-laid plans can unravel.

It's spring break, and Tamara Winters would rather stay on campus and read romance novels than flaunt her size-fourteen body on a beach. But her best friend, Ronni, has other ideas. Against her wishes, Tamara is whisked away to picturesque Maverick Bay, where she's wrangled into waiting tables with Ronni at the Shore Shack for its busy week leading to Maverick's Surf Invitational. There she meets fellow schoolmateXavier Solomon, the Invitational's organizer and campus womanizer by reputation. From the moment Tamara sees him emerging from the waves like a hero in of one of her romance novels, all she wants to do is run away from the feelings he inspires in her.

Little does she know Xavier has been watching her for weeks now. In fact, after failed attempts at asking her out on campus, he's concocted a crazy plan: fabricating romantic situations straight out of her favorite books. Xavier quickly realizes that if Tamara gets a whiff of his designs, he might as well spell CREEPER across his forehead. Yet as they grow closer, he's convinced it's a risk worth taking. What he hasn't planned on, of course, is his drug-addicted, alcoholic stepbrother, who decides to join the fun and put a wrench in Xavier’s scheme.

My thoughts...

"The sweetest and most adorable story ever. Plus sexual tensions."- Lite-Rate-Ture Reviews

We meet Tamara as the antisocial freak with an awesome million dollar best friend. Ronni decides to kidnap Tam to hook up with a certain someone. There she meets the hottest God she has ever seen, the son of Aphrodite. But what she doesn't expect is that Xavier Solomon isn't who he turns out to be. Tamara can't seem to focus her mind in reading any more romance novels because of the sexual tension between her and Xavier. But what will come next? I mean who will come next? Xavier's dangerous brother shows up on the beach seducing dozens of girls and drugging himself as always. This vacation wasn't only for Tamara, but for Ronni. What will Ronni do when she finds out Xavier's brother stepped on the beach?

I was really excited to read romancing the bookworm because the author is a Filipina. I've never read a book that was written by a Filipino, so I was so giddy that I got to see Kate Evangelista. I am very impressed that an author like her was able to hit internationally. Mostly US authors are the ones going for the big leagues. Not to be bias or anything, but yeah.

Let's get on with the review. So Romancing the bookworm falls in the cutest cliche. I haven't been reading any cute books because it's really difficult to fins cute titles. By cute I mean easy reads. There was nothing really deep about the story, but I did enjoy this a lot. I actually finished it really quickly. I didn't love the book, there wasn't anything to hate in the book. Cliche has never stopped trending because there aren't many great ideas out there that can really capture attention. Although repetitions are one of the traits I hate about books yet I still gave RB a chance because I'm bias like that. Just kidding.

I didn't regret reading this title at all because I connected with the character, Tamara. She's a reader too for romance. She mostly reads erotics so I can't really say we're exactly the same. As for the secondary characters they balanced and supported the whole story that's why I was reading comfortably and not wearing that disguted-WTF look on my face. Yeah...it happens a lot.

What does this author need to improve on? Well, I think she needs to improve on the budding romance considering that this a new adult romance novel. I can't really tell how these characters felt the spark since mostly it was by coffee. You'll soon understand what I mean by coffee once you read this title.

By far this is a really cute story that I can't forget and it can be very humorous too. I love a good laugh. It adds a bit of yellow-fun to the story, not just hurt and comfort which is not a good plot. I can't take tragedy books well, I get too emotional. That sum it. I really liked this fun story, A reading nerd and hot God creates a bit of ember. ;-)

Sa lahat ng my Pilipino followers ko dyan. Basahin niyo itong libro, napakaganda ng handa at sulat ng manunulat na ito. Sorry my tagalog is kinda fail. Mahal ko tong libro! Tapos!
