Review: The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines

Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist....

My thoughts...

*Sorry if there are any typos*

I wouldn't say that I love the characters in the story because I didn't. The story was a let down...like I almost didn't want to read until the end, but I knew Abbi Glines well. She's a very popular author and I love her a lot. She's been lovely. I have been a fan of her writing, but this book didn't give me the same delight. The idea of the story wasn't as unique as everyone thought it was, but contemporary was always the descendant of cliche. Not that it matters, some authors actually pulled it off, but this one unfortunately came out half-baked.

Ashton was so irritating in the beginning of the story. Blah. Blah. Blah. I can't decide who I should be with...Sawyer or Beau. Ugh! She infuriates me. She was beyond selfish and quick in making BAD decisions. Don't let me get to Sawyer, ugh! He's as bad as she is. Abbi Glines didn't actually give her readers a chance to decide who she should be with. Sawyer remained a mystery to me even when he was in the story. He was just there...like air. So sorry, Sawyer. Beau was a pervert. Oh gosh! Can't he stop thinking about shoving himself inside of her?! Gross. I would have loved the story more without the erotic-ness poisoning the story. I don't mind reading erotic, but some books should remain clean and prude.

As much as I would love to give this story a 4 rating...it doesn't deserve it. The only part I loved in the story was the ending. But. Yes, there's another but. I really hate how she made her decision. She had to chose between two guys and how can she be so cruel to break it off so fast and lie to other at the same time? Ugh! I keep ugh-ing. Abbi Glines' writing might have gone a bit too fast and odd. The choices Ashton made weren't the best and even her reasons weren't enough for me to say "YEAH! THAT"S RIGHT!" I was only "Pffff...okay next scene."

I did love some parts of this book. I actually enjoyed Abbi Gline's style, but it was her characters that bothered me. And may I add that there's going to be a twist in the story which wasn't needed at all. I didn't gasp or scream after reading the ultimate twist. Whatever Abbi Glines had ready for her readers, I was prepared for them and that was the problem. I shouldn't be prepared for something I have yet to know. I wanted to read a story that would take my breath away. Some readers will enjoy this more than I did, it just wasn't for me, though. If you're the kind of girl who likes cheating, romance, sex and not shocking twists, this is the book for you.

There were a lot of things wrong in this book. It isn't perfect, but I am hoping to pick up the sequel. If I ever have the time...
