After serving out a year
of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old
assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince
Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his
champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents
are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each
sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents
in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years
and then be granted her freedom.
Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another.
Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Celeana Sardothien is Adarlan's deadliest assassin, she worked in the salt mines of Endovier. She was infamous in her country, but with her skills she was feared. Her title secretes her true nature as a woman. Because of her rank, someone grew an interest in her. She came across Prince Dorian asking her for a bargain. A tournament will begin, the prize is the title to be the King's most valuable soldier. Celeana agrees to work for the king under 3 years until she has her freedom. While she's training for the death-tournament, she gets to wear the most beautiful gowns, befriends a princess, flirt with the prince and badmouth Chaol. But dark magic approaches the tournament. Many deaths have occurred, she knows not to run, but to fight her way into the darkest of magic to seek her own fate and past...to defeat whatever devil has cursed this place.

I have come by some rumors that this story was actually published on FictionPress as Queen of Glass. Do not bother visiting that website since it was most probably removed by the author. Imagine the numbers of admirers the author must have had from her drafts.
Can I just say that is book is beyond perfection. Faultless, I might add. I have finally found another author who I am proud to say is my new obsession. Did I say obsession? I mean my new Goddess! That's right, Sarah. I worship you. *I hope you're not frightened*
Throne of Glass is a an enticing story worthwhile. Everything in the story put me in awe and defined beauty with deadly. I wouldn't have thought a girl with those aspects be very attractive and girly. Girly was not what I expected from the notorious assasin of Adarlan. In the story you might become troubled memorizing the foreign names and language, but you will have to adjust. This was a challenging read, and also inescapable. Hypnotized by the questionable romance between two fighters for the heart of a killer. I was able to consume Throne of Glass the whole afternoon. This book took me 5 hours to finish because of it's size and the tiny fonts. The beautiful designs of the book was done amazingly. There are two cover designs, but the one that hypnotized me to buy the copy is the girly cover.
This book is on the top of my fantasy reads, the story is unique and still a mystery even after I have consumed the whole book. The same questions were still left unanswered by the author. I'm not arguing because this makes me even jumpier for Crown of Midnight. Celaena is a promising character who's witty, cocky, arrogant, fun-loving, adorable and deadly. She can also be girly like I said earlier. It was surprising that the author wanted Adarlan's deadliest assasin to be girly and flirtations in a way. I found it odd yet riveting. I couldn't find myself to hate Celaena. Then again I couldn't find any reason to actually dislike her so I ended up wanting to be her. I LOVE HER! Another fact about the characters is having puerile behavior. Chaol is the king's guard, but he can be very...bad *cough* virile. Prince Dorian isn't the character I'm rooting for, he can die for all I care. Dorian is an arrogant prince, but a looker. I hate is ass. LOL
I certainly enjoyed the love triangle in the story. Sarah J. Mass almost fooled me, I thought there wasn't going to be any love triangle. The author sure surprised me with her tedious writing style. The romance was incredibly lethal, perilous and dangerous (Are there any other words for deadly?), but very much deserving of a girly squeal. Eeeeep!
Celeana + Chaol = Happy Chyna
Celeana + Dorian = Pissed Chyna
I love the curses Sarah Mass included in the story, and the undeniable strength that I have seen in Celeana. With her deadly skills and flirtatious backfires at Chaol Westfall, I wanted to be her during Chaol's scenes. I also fell madly in love with the Legends and magic in the story, the world-building itself was solid and real. Sarah Mass's words felt true and magnificent. *SPEECHLESS*
I love every positive word that defines this book. Sexy. Dark. Immersing. Challenging. You won't regret picking this copy up.
I have great news by the way. Have you read my last Waiting on Wednesday post? In the post you can read my intense depression and ranting about Crown of Midnight. I was declined on Netgalley because only UK reviewers will be allowed to pick up that title, but Bloomsburry decided to send me an ARC paperback! Not sure when it will get here though.
5 Golden stars!
