Review: The Goddess by Robyn Grady

The Goddess (Idol Series, #1)After college graduation, Helene Masters is excited to land a job in a picturesque Aegean kingdom. Tasked with sprucing up the Prince's villa, she inadvertently finds herself trapped on the  island with the sexiest man alive. Of course she has to fall for a man who is destined to only marry royalty.

Darius Vasily, Prince of Teirenias, can't figure out what pretty, but accident-prone, Helene is doing at his private estate. After dousing him in paint, she disappears inside the secret cave holding the royal family treasure—a fertility statue, but a cave-in traps them both. Now Darius has to figure out how to save them before he kills her for getting them into this mess in the first place—or gives into their amazing chemistry.

My thoughts...

This will be a short review! The Goddess was an interesting concept about Helene landing on an amazing job, but she is cursed by accidents. She's nothing, but trouble. Darius has a lot in his hands right now. Stuck on an island with the sexiest woman he has ever met. Resisting won't be a problem for Helene, Darius is coated with hot smoke. A definite Prince Charming. Although Darius is only supposed to marry a royal. They just can't ignore this hot chemistry.

I was hoping that I will really love this story. I haven't had a prince-read in a while so I was uber excited to find this one. Thank you again to the publishers who gave me a copy. Sad to say I hated this book. I did not love, like or dislike the book. I hated it to my bones. The author wasn't very original or realistic. It's like she forced her characters to love each other. The interesting chemistry the author had promised was dull and boring. Even the characters weren't in full character mode.

There was no connection in the story. I felt really irritated that the Prince wasn't even thinking straight. He's a damn prince yet he flirts with a non royal? I'm sure that's against the law! I mean what the hell? If the author wanted her readers to love the book she should have not focused on the romance, but about the country, Helene's family (She fell in love with the prince I'm sure her parents deserve an explanation) or the country that Darius will rule over. In my opinion I think the author didn't want to add any explanations because she had none.

How many stories have you seen about a royal falling for a non royal? Not much. That is why I was so eager to read this. Basically what trashed the story was the unnatural romance blooming between the prince and Helene.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone even the hopeless romantics will not enjoy this book. Don't let the sexy cover trick you, that's also one of the main reasons I requested for a copy. To sum up my review the characters are boring and unnatural, the twist is just wrong, the writing style was satisfactory, but all in all I would give this book a ONE star.
