Review: Tempest By Julie Cross

Tempest (Tempest, #1) Title: Tempest
Author: Julie Cross
Published: January 17, 2012
Borrowed: Hardbound copy
Guy's POV

The year is 2009.  Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler.  Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

I wasn't at all very much the type to read about time traveling, when I was reading word by word, I wasn't in my element. I did enjoy the book because it was a fresh new read to me as I said I don't pick these types of genre, but it was recommended by a friend of mine so I guess I borrowed from her just to see if Julie Cross's book will really impress me.

Julie's idea wasn't bad at all, it wasn't cliche. She's an imaginative author that will really keep you reading straight on. It took me quite a long time to finish this because I already have too much books on my TBR pile and including my school work. This definitely helped me relax for the week. Her words aren't hard to understand and you can really feel the edginess of her thoughts. The sharpness of the personalities of the characters were alluring. They weren't the usual characters you see in normal books. This is about "TIME TRAVELING" Jackson Meyer is a 19 yr old college boy who has a unique skill or you can say odd or weird, he can travel through time without changing the space-time continuum. How weird is that? But that kept me reading. Jackson also has a girl in his life (Of course), suddenly some weird black suited guys assaults them, and you can guess what happened to his girlfriend. He accidentally fell back 2 years from his own time and he's stuck, now he must find a way to save his girlfriend from the guns pointed to her. BUT HOW?! (As if I'll tell you, suckers JWK)

If I were to describe Jackson, well...he's those young rich boys who constantly flaunts their money on your face (JUST KIDDING) Jackson is the complete opposite, he a sweet boyfriend (definitely my type) *Cha-ching* (In it for the money jwk) It was inspiring that he would go through all that time-traveling just to save the love of his life. Jackson also developed into a better boyfriend, he got to know the younger version of his GF and he started to learn more about her past and his past. This story doesn't really make you guess, it makes you shock! Well...I was shocked, but I'm an easy person to surprise so I don't know HAHA

I recommend it to all the young folks out there. Aren't you sick of reading about vampires, faeries, contemporary romance, forbidden love or aliens? (Why did I say aliens?) Julie did in fact impress! :D Great job Ms. Cross! *Bows to you*

  1. Thank you so much for the lovely review, Chyna! Glad you enjoyed reading Tempest. And I'm relieved that it didn't disappoint you being not much into this genre. Hee. Moreover, thank you so much for joining the tour!

  2. Lol, great review.
Am reading it right now and can say that it gets somewhat weird and confusing in the middle.
Will read it until the end and find out! :)
