A beautiful dark review

A Beautiful Dark (A Beautiful Dark, #1) On the night of Skye's seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites--like fire and ice--Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye's life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move--only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.

In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can't help falling for, and Devin, who she can't stay away from, the consequences of Skye's choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

I wasn't eager to read Beautiful Dark because when I saw the cover, it wasn't to my liking. When I read the summary I thought maybe that would change my mind. And it did. Slightly. It didn't fully live up to my expectations. I was so disappointed since I love the light and dark thing going in there.

The writing of the author did not impress me at all. The story was incredibly fast pace. For example on page 78 she's sleeping the next page she's fighting with her friends.(I just made that up) Well...I have nothing more to say about that...

The start of the story was about Skye being a super skier and something weird happens during her birthday party and then she meets two hot guys, Devin the calm and quiet, Asher the hot and infuriating. At first Devin was to my liking, but then the author changed my mind because *Not telling*

I have to be honest that the first few pages of the book just made me yawn. I had a teensy thought that I'll just be wasting my time. The whole love triangle is sickening especially if it doesn't blend well with the book. I love romance, but the love triangle in this story isn't my cup of tea. Skye abruptly has the hots for Asher and Devin...It was obvious that it was going to happen, but then the author added another guy. *Ugh* Okay 2 guys is enough, but 3?! No thank you :)

The whole plot about what happened to her parents and who or what she is thing. As I said earlier the author was incredibly fast in writing. I love the straight to the point kind of writing, but this was just too fast I couldn't catch up. Somewhere near the start she suddenly has clues about who she is and suspects that she's being stalked. Then she gets the answer. Whoopee! not really...When she found out who she was all she did was cry for like 2 minutes. She wasn't shocked or anything instead she shed tears. I was like *whut?* it didn't make any sense.

I did kinda like the whole plot about these guys always ending up wherever she goes. It kinda makes you think if they're actually serial killers with the whole stalking situation. The book did get exciting in the middle but then it falls down and then goes up again and falls down once again. It's a pattern. Like an on and off situation.

The plot was well done. I like the idea of having a clean-cut and a bad ass fight for the girl. It was simply romantic. I just didn't like the idea of having another guy around. Even if he's only a vital character. A love triangle is cute, but a love square is just too much.

Asher is the hot infuriating guy who treats Skye as some kind of easy catch. Skye did become the green eyed monster when Asher kept flirting with her schoolmates. Skye's personality wasn't what I had expected. She gave me the love and hate thought. So my favorite character is Asher. So far he was the most normal one in the story.
Devin, the calm and quiet. He treated Skye like as if she's an angel. He was sweet and he knew how to take care of her. He always watched her back. *literally* (They were ordered to guard her by these so called Gifts) The gifts are like the government they have in that supernatural world. Devin is part of the order. They follow rules and they never break them. While Asher belonged to the rebellion, he always broke the rules and chose what to follow. Devin showed loyalty to his world and when he was given the most impossible order he did not hesitate. In short they have no free will.

The ending showed what Devin's last order was. And I was like "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!?!?!" It's a cliffhanger! I hate those ending -___-

I plan to read the next book. I want to see what happens to Devin and Skye. What will Asher do? Who will Skye choose? Will she be part of the light or the dark?

This book deserves 3 wings from me ;) I'm that generous.
