I finished Before I Fall in midst of stu[dying]. And ironically, I finished it on the day we got our report cards. Don't you just love DEAR period? (It's our Drop Everything And Read period for 50 minutes! Woah! Haha.)
In the story, the main character, Samantha Kingston, dies. She relives the day of her death over and over again, 7 times to be exact. Though it starts the same, it ends differently, depending on her actions. On the first few 'days', she doesn't know what they (God? It wasn't mentioned) wanted to teach her. But, on the last few days, she finally realizes what she is supposed to do. She was supposed to change her ways. I guess that's what they wanted her to realize since she can't change her entire life anymore. I believe that they also wanted to show her the different paths she could take. Not just the one she was living, but all.
I think the author was trying to relay a lot of different messages to us through this book. One is that we should treasure every single moment and every single person in our lives because, like Sam, we might not know when our time would be up. Another one is that we should see the whole picture, not just the parts of it that we would want to.
All in all, Before I Fall is a book full of love, teenage struggles and problems, change and life lessons. :)
