Blog tour review: The Guys Ar Props Club by Ingrid Seymour

During her senior year in high school, Maddie Burch promised herself not to ever fall for a cute guy – or any guy – again. Cute guys are players and not to be trusted, a fact she learned the hard way when her first boyfriend ran her heart through a paper shredder. Two years later, her promise is still intact, and she’s determined to make it through college without falling victim to another creep. She has her job, school and The Guys Are Props Club to keep her mind and hormones in check.

The club was founded by Jessica, Maddie’s best friend. It is a sisterhood of girls who have fallen prey to heartless jerks and who have vowed to turn the tables. Once a semester, Jessica requires members to “do onto others as they’ve done unto you.” Setting the example, Jessica’s next play is Sebastian Capello, a theater major with heartthrob looks and a flair for Latin dance, whose heart she plans to break the way hers was once broken.

What the friends don’t know is that Sebastian is different. Despite his perfect looks and popularity, he’s not a jerk. He doesn’t play games to get his way. Instead, he keeps it real and goes after what he wants with honest intentions. And what he wants is not a bombshell like Jessica, but a down-to-earth girl like Maddie – even if it causes a riff in the girl’s friendship. Even if it means getting Maddie to break her personal vow.

*** Due to language and sexual situations this book is recommended for ages 17 and older.

My thoughts...

The story is about a club called GAP, this club is no ordinary group. All the members in GAP have suffered from sever heartbreaks (Girls who haven't moved on) or girls who seek revenge. Nothing tastes any better than getting even. Jessica is the founder of GAP while Madison is the co-founder. They have there own breakups that got them into this hot mess. In GAP, Jessica announced to have another play. A play is when you date sexy jerks then step on their hearts when they start to fall in love. Harsh, right? Not for GAP.

Sebastian's accidental encounter with the GAP's meeting made him a target for Jessica's play. BUT. Yes, there's a but. Sebastian isn't interested in Jessica. Dun Dunn Dunnnnnn.

The Guys Are Props Club isn't a very popular title and what sucks about it that it's not know to the world of its awesomeness. Gotcha! I really loved the simplicity of this book, the story wasn't cute, but sexily adorable. When I started reading I knew that this book will be those "Ugh! Cliche. Cliche. Cliche. Stop." I will admit at some point I did have that in my mind, but it slowly wafted away with the wind when I couldn't break away from the chapters that seemed to end so fast. I've read the entire book in a day. No joke. This new adult novel had me smiling and aching.

I'd really love to talk about the characters. There's Jessica, Madison and Sebastian. When I read the guy's name I was like...Crab? Oh gosh! I'm so funny! Just kidding. Whatever Ingrid Seymour had for me were swooning and squealing. I was running out of breath. Sebastian isn't just hot, but covered in sugar. He's the honey coated type of guys who doesn't give a shit about a girl's ass. Madison, however tried to argue. She doesn't believe in perfect guys and from what I've read, I can fully understand why. Going deeper into the story made me have a real connection with Madison, she didn't just suffer from a heartbreak, but a full blown betrayal. When the author finally introduced me to the real Madison, I wanted so much to hug her. Okay! I don't want to cry right now. Let's talk about Jessica, she's the new BFF. I hate her even in the ending of the story, I couldn't find myself to forgive such a slut. Her personality was so bitter that it became rotten to the core. I wanted to slap her myself, but I had Madison stopping me. She knew how to handle and protect herself that is why I idolize such a girl.

Reading The Guys Are Props Club wasn't part of the plan, but I did not expect to love this book so much. I couldn't handle the simplicity of the book because of the tiny dark holes that seemed to go on endlessly. Ingrid Seymour is a fabulous author, her style and sass brought an infinite glow to her story. I loved it and hope to find another day to read it again. Now the question is, do you want to read a sexily-adorable story?
