Review: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Hopeless (Hopeless, #1)Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

My thoughts...

***Review copy was provided by edelweiss***

Sky wanted to go to high school after begging her mom a million times. She was always home schooled. After being shielded by a bitchy yet loyal best friend and her awesome mom she meets the dangerous and gorgeous Dean Holder. He has trouble painted all over those incredible abs, but Dean just won't let go. Suddenly asking for her name? Offering to jog with her? Dean has his eyes set on Sky. He wants to know everything about her. So he will, but when Sky finds out who Dean Holder really is, it brings the worst in her. Buried memories will come back to haunt her...What can Dean Holder do? Was Sky living a lie? Can both Dean and Sky be saved after meeting their final fate?

They're just hopeless...

I've read Hopeless a looong time ago, but never had the time or chance to review it, finally I got the chance. A lot of you already know (Obviously) that this will be a very positive review. Hopeless is one of the best books I've read for the year 2013. Colleen Hoover has written other books like the Slammed series, but Hopeless is by far my favorite of them all.

Enamored, exhilarated, disgusted and dejected. Those are the constant emotions that kept me reading. Colleen wrote such powerful words that it just stabbed me...etched my soul. I don't want to be dramatic, but that's what really happened to me. The author started out slow and gentle, but even though not much was happening yet I couldn't dare take my eyes of the book. Going in deeper gave my eyes a deeper burn. It felt so painful just reading on. Reading about Sky made me think of the real world. Colleen wanted to represent Sky as the blameless little girl. The filthy lies of the world brought ugliness to her soul.

Colleen defined cruel and evil in the darkest possible way. I didn't think those beautifully written words represented a deeper meaning. I had no idea what the plot was going to be. Dean Holder was a stranger in the book, but he seemed to mean a lot more in the story. He wasn't just the guy who the girl will offer her heart to, he was something more. Colleen made sure Dean Holder wasn't those cliche sexy characters. I wouldn't mind Dean being a bit cliche, but I really loved the idea that Colleen thought for him. Boyfriends and soul mates are 2 different words, but thought of the same definition. After reading Hopeless I can never look at boyfriends and soul mates the same way ever again.

I'm trying not to cry (the main plot is just excruciating) whatever Colleen has planned for Sky and Dean you will never see it coming. This is my first time ever to feel crestfallen. The story is just pure gold. Everything in it, the words, the romance, the characters...everything was written to perfection. I can't find one mistake in the story. If you find one please call me or email it to me and I'm very much ready for a serious debate, darling.

I was planning to give Hopeless a 4.5 but I don't think Hopeless deserves such a low score. So I'm rewarding 5 stars to Hopeless. I'm sure you all expected a perfect score from me. I'd recommend this story to all troubled teens out there. If you think you're already in hell...think again. I'd like to introduce you to the world of Sky and Dean's. You'll be very thankful for the life that was given to you.
