From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.
I am very ashamed to say that I never heard of this book until my friends introduced it to me in school. What can I say? I just could not put this book DOWN! Marie Lu just wrote one of the best books of 2012 in my list and she just reached my top 5 favorite Authors. She just brings the excitement to an extreme addiction. It's a challenge to wait for the next book and I'm losing. I cannot wait this long for the second book, which is "Prodigy". :(
Okay! The two beautiful main characters are June and Day. You may think that June is like the damsel in distress(Oh! How I hate those), but she is the complete opposite of weak. She's a strong fighter and a very intelligent soldier while Day is kinda like the Robin Hood(Criminal). But still very hot. Definitely swoon-worthy. I'm completely smitten by him. Both are inspiring characters that I look up to.
Let me tell you about Marie's debut story, it revolves around Day and June, both of them have different obligations in life, a different perspective of it, a different lifestyle and they fight in different teams. Yeah...I know I'm saying different a lot, but that's what they are. They are both so different that's how they were able to meet. And also one of the reasons why I support them so much.
June's brother, Metias, has been murdered, and June as the sister is now in charge of the investigation for the murder. The top suspect is Day. No questions why so moving on. She now has to track the most dangerous criminal. No name, no pictures, no clues and no fingerprints. Must be hard. But not for her. She's a prodigy in her country, she was able to perfect her trial with a score of 1500/1500. With those scores she was able to become an elite. With her gift she able to outsmart Day, the most beautiful criminal. I love describing him B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. You will definitely fall. HARD. for Day.
When June and Day finally met that was the best part when I really really REALLY couldn't put the book down. I like it when authors like to tense it up. Marie wrote her story in alternating POV's which sometimes confused me. :P I love hearing both sides of the story. It made me not hate any of the characters. This scene just changed June, after getting to know Day what will she do? Whose team will she join?
Okay, You've reached the sad part. The ending was really upsetting...I can't tell you anything because I don't want to ruin the surprise, but if I were you I would go to the local bookstore and purchase this book right away. I'm not kidding. I'm dead serious. Sorry that I wasn't able to make a really good review because I am completely speechless. The book was that amazing I have no words to describe such treasure.
This book is filled with action, romance, blood, war, thrill and it's kinda futuristic.
I think this book deserves 4.5 from me. ;)

Stay tuned and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I really must read this book already. I even own it! Everything you just described sounds so good and I'm certain I will love it! Great review :)
